Sheri Sobrato
Sheri Sobrato has been an active philanthropist, impact investor and community volunteer for decades, as a trustee of the Sobrato Family Foundation and as the founder of Resonance Philanthropies.
Sheri has made it her life’s mission to empower children and teens facing serious or chronic illnesses. Starting as a pediatric playroom volunteer, she has continually supported kids and families through their journey with illness. Driven by her own experience with brain cancer in her early 20’s, Sheri has a deep-seated empathy for others facing similar battles and has played a pivotal role in improving children’s health and addressing unmet medical needs.
Through her philanthropic platform, Resonance Philanthropies, Sheri invests in breakthrough solutions and organizations that have the potential to dramatically change how patients are supported or treated. Through a mix of research funding, grants, and early investments, Sheri helps both nonprofits and emerging companies bridge the critical period of challenges that can occur when developing new ideas or businesses (i.e., the “valley of death”) as they work to develop innovative solutions and products.
In addition, Sheri is deeply passionate about advancing youth emotional wellness, with a focus on psychosocial support, social-emotional learning, and technology-driven solutions. She is the co-author of Digging Deep: A Journal for Young People Facing Health Challenges, and the creator of the Digging Deep Project, which has published the Shadow’s Edge mobile game to guide young people through their emotional journeys.
Sheri’s funding interests also include impact media and visual storytelling, health access, and innovative education.
What sets Sheri’s philanthropic efforts apart is her unique ability to connect the “big picture” with the heart. She demonstrates a deep understanding of the intersecting needs of people with health challenge or disability and is committed to fostering belonging and acceptance for all.
