Ben Neveras is a Senior Program Officer for Deep in Place San Jose, where he leverages his extensive experience in nonprofit management and community development to drive impactful programs that support economic mobility and housing stability initiatives. With a commitment to improving the lives of those in his community, Ben plays a vital role in shaping strategies that foster sustainable growth and resilience.
Previously, Ben served as a Program Officer for Sunlight Giving, where he led the housing stability and family support portfolios, managing a substantial budget of over $6.5 million in annual grants and overseeing a portfolio of 75 organizations. Before his time at Sunlight Giving, Ben was the Executive Director for Playworks Northern California, where he began his journey as an AmeriCorps member at a downtown San Jose school. Under his leadership, Playworks experienced significant expansion into over 20 school districts and successfully navigated the recovery process following the pandemic. Ben was also an inaugural member of the Playworks Equity Team, co-authoring the organization’s equity statement to advance inclusivity within its programs.
Ben holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Princeton University. Outside of his professional endeavors, Ben is a devoted family man with two young children who attend parent-participation schools. He enjoys volunteering at their schools and spending quality time with his wife and kids, exploring parks, museums, and zoos. In his spare time, Ben is passionate about tennis, boxing, chess, cooking, and reading.
