Sheri Sobrato
Sheri Sobrato, founder of Resonance Philanthropies and a trustee of the Sobrato Family Foundation, has been an active philanthropist, impact investor and volunteer for several decades.
Sheri’s passion to support young people facing health challenges dates back to her teen years, when she was a pediatric playroom volunteer. Driven by her own experience with brain cancer in her early 20s and her deep-seated empathy for everyone facing similar battles, Sheri co-authored Digging Deep: A Journal for Young People Facing Health Challenges and created Shadow’s Edge, a digital game, which builds skills in self-expression and emotional wellness.
As an investor and philanthropist, Sheri provides catalytic funding to nonprofits, emerging companies and venture in areas that traditionally lack investment capital. Working at the intersection of philanthropy and innovation, Sheri has been instrumental in helping bridge the gap between academia and early-stage company formation. Key priorities are children’s health, youth mental wellness and rare disease.
Additional funding priorities include innovative education, especially helping young people pursue their passions and purpose, and impact media. Sheri has supported numerous documentaries around topics she cares deeply about.
Sheri is a member of various philanthropic collaboratives, including The Philanthropy Workshop (TPW), Future Mental Health Collective, Hopelab Youth Mental Health Collective and XPrize. She holds a B.A. in Human Biology from Stanford University and an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University. Sheri resides in the San Francisco Bay Area.
