John Matthew & Andie Sobrato
John Matthew and Andie Sobrato view their joint philanthropic work as their greatest passion — working in partnership to build a strategy and distribute resources according to that vision. They strive to contribute to a future world that provides equitable opportunities for all people; one in which those who are most vulnerable are supported to thrive and achieve their dreams. While their giving spans education, economic mobility, and reproductive health, all work is approached with the lens of gender and racial justice. John currently serves as the Director of Impact & Learning for Sobrato Philanthropies, while Andie is an entrepreneur and owner of Andie Sobrato LLC, a personal styling business.
Through our giving, our mission is to support equity, opportunity, and well-being for all — starting in the communities where we are most deeply rooted.
John Matthew & Andie
To drive their mission they aim to advance equity through investments in community development, reproductive health services, as well as culture and systems change. They also work to distribute opportunity through investments in economic mobility, supportive school environments, educational access, and scholarships. Finally, they enable well-being through investments in essential needs and services, youth development and animal welfare.
As members of the youngest generation in the Sobrato family leveraging philanthropic resources, we are always considering ways to become better philanthropists and learn from the past. A trust-based lens is extremely important to us, as we believe that those closest to the problem are most equipped to build and implement solutions.
John Matthew & Andie
In addition to visiting and working closely with the people conducting the work on the ground, they are part of a variety of collectives and collaboratives bringing philanthropists together on the issue areas they care about. They desire to become leaders, not only in relation to their younger family members, but also for other young philanthropists who want to make change but don’t know where to start.
